  • Win a UBOC Event

Happy New Year! I hope you have had a great first half of January so far. It is a great time to play on the best Mac poker sites because UBOC 6 has started. Included in 2011’s UB Online Championship is a total of 29 events, all with guaranteed prize pools. Winning one of the events nets you a special UBOC watch, and there is even a Tournament of Champions for the winners of UBOC 2010. If you were planning on trying poker flash, you might as well take the plunge now!

Everything got started on January 16th with a No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack event for $530. Those that used a Full Tilt Poker referral code because they like Omaha better than Holdem were able to play UBOC’s first PLO event yesterday. If heads-up poker is your specialty, Event 13 is the tournament for you, but register as soon as possible because it won’t be possible to register late for this tourney.

For those with huge bankrolls, the High Roller tournament is on January 23rd for $2.1k. The Championship Event is on January 30th and features a $1,050 buy-in. If you are new to online poker rooms and don’t want to commit to these stakes, you can opt to play satellites. The satellites start as low as 10 cents!

Another way to go for players that would like a little more free poker training is Mini-UBOC. This series has all of the same events, but the stakes are a fraction of the size. While you won’t win a special watch, the prize pools will be large and the excitement of a final table will be there in spades!

Some people have been waiting all year for UBOC, so fire up UB and join in on the action. Also, if you are a fan of no download free casino, you might be happy to know that UB can also be played in your browser. Good luck and have fun!

  • Multiple Ways to Win Playing UB Omaha

Ultimate Bet is one of the best Mac poker sites for PLO. They started a unique Royal Flush promo that is similar to a bad beat jackpot. There is a progressive Royal Flush Jackpot, and players that hit royal flushes receive a cash bonus. Pretty cool way to reward someone for the most awesome hand in poker.

If you already tried a Lucky Ace Poker download, you will know that certain tables offer the chance to win a bad beat jackpot. Someone losing a hand with quad 8s or better wins 50% of the jackpot, and players dealt into the bad beat hand also win a percentage. The Royal Flush promotion is very similar. The royal flush winner receives 50% of the jackpot, the players that participated in the hand receive 25%, and then the remaining 25% is divided amongst other people playing at Jackpot tables at the same limits. These bonuses give you more chances to rake in the dough than at most other poker rooms!

One thing to note is that just 65% of the jackpot is awarded when a royal flush is hit. 25% goes to start the next Jackpot and then 10% goes to UB as rake. Fans of the Fulltiltpoker download might dislike that UB keeps 10% of the jackpot, but the folks at UB need to get paid somehow too!

To have a chance at the Jackpot, you have to play at a Royal Flush Jackpot table. Flash Texas Holdem is a feature of UB, so you can try your luck in secret at work if you want. These tables contribute 50 cents per hand to the Jackpot.

Poker fans excited about the Royal Flush promotion should take note of a few conditions when it comes to winning the Jackpot. At least four people had to have been playing the hand, and the hand must go to show down. If you were sitting out when the Royal was won, you will not receive a share of the winnings. If there are two royal flushes dealt at the same time, the Jackpot is given to the hand that began first. I have to say that if this happened to me and I did not receive anything for my royal flush, I would pick a free slots download over a poker download for a while to get over my tilt.

If you are sick of Holdem and want to give Omaha a try, definitely consider UB. It is comforting that you do not have to download Full Tilt Poker to try out the Omaha games. Full Tilt is great but it is nice to have options!

  • Tournament Leaderboard

If you are interested in the best Mac poker sites, chances are you will probably want to play tournaments. In this case, it would be good to know about UB’s tournament leaderboards. There is one big MTT leaderboard and three smaller SnG leaderboards, and there is cash to be won on each one.

Like on other Mac poker sites, you will be ranked based on a points total. The number of points received in a given tournament depends on the prize pool and where you finish. A simple formula is used to calculate points, and the same formula is used for both MTTs and SnGs.

Like many of the flash Texas Holdem sites, UB has a different MTT leaderboard for the week, month, and year. The weekly version takes your best 10 results, and first place receives $1,000 cash. The monthly leaderboard takes your best 20 results, and there is a $14,000 prize pool for the top 10. Finishing in first place would net you $6,500. And then last but definitely not least, the annual leaderboard uses your top 100 results, similar to the leaderboards you get with the PokerStars download. 50th through 11th receive entries to a special $36k freeroll. Cash prizes are awarded to the top 10. If you can place in 1st or 2nd, you will also win a WSOP Main Event seat!

If you do not have much experience on US friendly poker sites, you might want to try the SnG leaderboards. The reason for this is that there are separate leaderboards for different stakes. The Diamond division is for buy-ins less than $20. The prize pool for the week in Diamond is $1.5k and the prize pool for the month is $5k. If you play between $21 and $50 buy-ins, you fall into the Heart division. The weekly Heart prize pool is $3,000 while the monthly prize pool is $7,000. If you are prepared to discard your Lucky Ace Poker download so that you have more time on UB, you might be the perfect candidate for winning the Spade division for stakes over $51. This division awards $6,000 every week and $10,000 every month.

UB did a great job of making their leaderboards exciting and jam packed with great prizes. It might be a good idea to find some free poker training to become even better at the game. It will be worth it if you can finish in first place!

  • Adam Levy

Those hoping to play poker on the best Mac poker sites should consider UB, so I would like to introduce another UB pro, Adam Levy. Online players will know him as “Roothlus” because that is the name he uses on the best US poker sites. The 28 year old professional was born in New York but he has since moved away and now lives in Florida. He was a student working a job as a server before he started playing poker.

Levy has cashed for over $3 million on money poker sites, something most people cannot say for themselves. An inspiring thing to know regarding Levy’s online scores is that there isn’t a single tournament win that surpasses $387.5k, yet he still has over $3 million in cashes. This fact points to one thing: his success has not been due to luck and he is a consistent winning player. He won that $387k competing in an FTOPS tournament on his Fulltiltpoker download in 2009. His second largest cash is scaled back a bit to $80k, and this was also won on Full Tilt. He earned his biggest PokerStars cash back in 2006 in the Sunday Million for almost $57k.

Roothlus has over $1.5 million in live winnings, too, a large portion coming from tournaments in casinos for USA players. He actually just won his largest cash ever in the 2010 WSOP Main Event after going incredibly deep and finishing 12th. This earned him $635,011, although there is no doubt he was very disappointed to miss the November Nine. Before this Main Event finish, his best live cash had been in 2008 for $266,445.

When Levy plays online poker, he follows a fairly consistent routine. He prefers to get out of bed at least an hour prior to competing on download free poker sites because just waking up and jumping on the computer doesn’t really suit him. He prefers to have a good breakfast and a shower first thing. He likes to listen to music while he plays although you might be surprised to learn his genre of preference: techno. And then, when he has finished playing on US friendly poker sites, he plays video games to let off some steam and just relax. Judging by his results, it would appear that Levy’s schedule is working just fine for him.

If you would like the chance to sit at the table with Levy one day, there is no substitute for playing tons of hands and studying. It should not be overly difficult to find plenty of poker literature on the Internet and you should notice vast improvement in your game if you use your resources properly. It might be necessary to stop playing on your no download free casino sites, but those are the breaks!

  • Card Player 2009 Player of the Year

If you have the notion to play poker in online casinos for USA players but you can’t decide between a poker download and free poker no downloads, maybe you will be convinced to pick UB after meeting Eric Baldwin, another UB spokesperson. Despite being only 27 years old, Baldwin has a tournament resume that most players could only dream of having. He was born in WI, so it's not surprising that he attended the University of Wisconsin for a Psychology degree with a minor in Mathematics. As he plays poker on a regular basis, it makes sense that he lives in Vegas.

Baldwin sometimes plays tournaments on US friendly poker sites, but he became famous due to live poker where he has over $3 million in cashes. He won a bracelet and $522k back in WSOP 2009 in Event 34, a $1.5k buy-in. In WSOP 2010 he cashed in four events but he didn’t make any final tables. His largest cash was in the Main Event where he finished in 59th place for $138,285.

This young tournament star enjoys US poker rooms and can also be found playing the big WPT events. In 2009 he finished 3rd in a Legends of Poker event and later that year won an event in the Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $256k. Prior to that year in 2008 he placed first in Event 2 in the Five Star World Classic Poker Classic, winning a healthy $149k. With all these live tournaments to attend, I’m sure Baldwin doesn’t have much time for Bingo codes.

Being a UB representative, Baldwin spends the rest of his working hours on download free poker sites. According to Baldwin, the main difference between online and live games is that online games are much more aggressive preflop. Online he likes to chip up without showdowns in contrast to live where he will attempt to see many pots multi-way and win chips that way.

Card Player named Baldwin the 2009 “Player of the Year”, so I’m happy for any advice Baldwin is willing to give. If you’re looking to get into real money poker, be sure to go through all your options. A Bwin Poker download can’t be a bad option, but as you’ve seen from my previous articles, UB is a great site too.
